3 Cosmetic Dental Treatments Perfect for Summer

Woman with a summer smile

There’s no denying it now — it’s June, so summer is back again! That means vacations, pools, beaches, and all kinds of fun in the sun. However, the season also has plenty of socializing and photo-taking. You want to ensure your smile is up for these latter activities, right?

Here are three summer-oriented dental treatments from your cosmetic dentist in Carlsbad. Read on and decide if one (or more) of them could make your teeth the season’s hit.

Metal-Free Restorations

Metal-free restorations are all-ceramic crowns, bridges, and fillings that blend naturally with your tooth enamel. Their placement usually occurs over two appointments.

During the first visit, the dentist prepares the tooth, capture impressions, and place a temporary restoration. After receiving the custom-crafted crown or other restoration from specialists, they give it to their patient in exchange for the temporary one. These all-ceramic treatments have advantages over metal alternatives due to their discrete appearance and lack of allergy reactions.

Teeth Whitening (At-Home or In-Office)

Professional teeth whitening is a treatment that uses agents like hydrogen peroxide to bleach tooth enamel white. While many dentists offer at-home whiteners for patient convenience, in-office whitening is the more recommended of the two.

For the in-office procedure, your dentist will directly apply bleaching ingredients to your teeth. They may reapply coats of this material every fifteen to thirty minutes. After about an hour, your teeth will be several shades brighter and whiter.

At-home teeth whitening kits offer related results over two weeks of daily application. They usually include custom-fitted application trays and professional-strength teeth whitening gel.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are layers of ceramic porcelain bonded to teeth to improve their appearance. They’re best suited to hide stubborn tooth stains, chipping, cracking, and similar damage. Often, full application can take place in as few as two appointments.

The bonding process is pretty straightforward. First, your dentist will remove tiny amounts of tooth enamel to create room for the future layer. Next, they’ll have you wear a temporary veneer until the permanent one is ready. Later, they will place the permanent version on the affected tooth’s surface with dental cement.

Veneer treatments are trendy for patients who want to improve their smiles without extensive procedures.

You want to show off white teeth when you laugh and smile this summer, right? Talk to your dentist about the treatments above to make that happen!
